Yep ...(sorry Mrs B)....it would be unusual to see them too far apart at a do like that (Michael Booth - chaperone to the stars!).
Some slightly more rapturous comments on progressive ears now, thankfully.
I have mixed feelings - delighted it went so well, but gutted I wasn't there!
Oh, and just had a text from Mr Jones - they are safely back in the country after a 4 hour flight delay.

Yep, we're home - what a great weekend - I'm bloody knackered
I had an interesting start to my trip, got to Heathrow last Wednesday and was at the end of the runway awaiting take off when a warning light appeared on one of the engines. 4.5 hours later we got off the plane and bused to a hotel for the night - without our luggage - back to the airport at 6am on Thursday and eventually landed in Montreal at midday local time - so that was fun. As you have already heard, we then had a 4-5 hour delay on the way back thanks to a fuel tank problem - it looked like another overnighter was on the cards for a while.
Anyhow, inbetween all of that, sightseeing was done in a lovely city and of course some hardcore partying by all and sundry
As for the music, Friday openers Mystery were very good, Saga, not so good. Saturday started with 2 quite avant prog style bands, not my cup of tea so I did a bit of networking with some North American friends of mine, heard a bit of DFA who played very competent fusion but missed Le Orme as we went for a team Magenta Italian meal. Everybody (even me) then had an early night.
Sunday openers Miriodor were too avant for me as well and then of course it was time to get down to work. Did 20 minutes or so manning the merch stand whilst messrs Reed & Jones prepared for their gig duties and sold a ton of stuff - before the set. Then of course the boys & Girl go and play one of the best shows they've ever done (I rated it a 9.5 as I refuse to give a 10) totally slay the crowd and getting 7 standing ovations in total (I think). At the end of White Witch I saw a quite a few people leaving the auditorium so I legged it outside and dived behind the merch stand again. Unfortunately this meant I missed the encore but let's just say I had a very thick wadge of notes in my hand before they'd even finished and the ensuing hour was like the first day of the Harrod's sale.
Due to a bit of a cock up by the festival organisers, Magenta were unable to enter the auditorium to watch 3 Friends set, so I sold my ticket to desperate punter on the street and we all went off to a bar to celebrate a great victory. This was obviously continued later in Room 622 where much hilariousness occured and Mr Pilkington and I scored another British victory by being the last men standing, finally retiring to bed at 5am
What more can I say but WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND

Just arrived home and I'm absolutely wrecked. I'm too old for this shit, I've decided.
By what an awesome weekend.
The rumours of my inebriated logistical problems are just that. Rumours. I blame Dan and Kieran for leading me astray.
Montreal might not be the most picturesque city in the world (it also has it's fair share of beggars and homeless people) but there are so many things to do that it's impossible to get bored. There were restaurants and bars everywhere and the people were generally very nice.
Stephen, Sean and Robert were excellent hosts and really bent over backwards to take care of us.
The Gesu theatre is an excellent venue, rather compact and without a bad seat in the house. They were kind enough to accommodate us with a large screen and projector and to say that Steve did a stellar job would be the understatement of the year. He's the man!!!!
This was one of them Magenta performances that will stay with me forever. Kind of like RosFest in 2005 with the crowd taking it to a level that made it almost legendary.
When you get a standing ovation after the first song you know something special is happening.
To see the people flooding the merchandise table and then the band for autographs makes any gig worthwhile to me.
After a sleepless and painfull (I developed problems with both ears) weekend and think it's time for a good night's sleep.

Rumours my ......... The sight of an inebriated Mr. Jones, in just his underpants, trying to open the WINDOW seven floors up to go to the toilet is one that will haunt me for years to come. I'll either need therapy for the rest of my life, or there will be a very scary song that comes out of this!!!
Top venue,t op hosts, top gig, top fans!!

No way! I bet it'll be pants.
An Ode to Chris
It t'was an awesome sight t'behold
That night in Montreal.
Chris-magenta supped too much
and had to make a call.
He'd drunk all day and part o' the night
Convinced he'd stay the course.
But bladder full to overflowing
Now time to water the horse.
Some seven floors up, totally p"""d
Poor bach he lost his bearings
The call of nature made him feel
His tackle needed airing.
Had it not been for Jimmytt
Who ran to Chris's aid
And stopped our pants man leaping out
To a Delilah seranade.
(Apologies to Jimmytt)

Is it just me or does that link now simply default to the Youtube homepage?

It was good too. Glad I was quick enough to catch a viewing.
I think Chris has been watching too much Pants Man on The Apprentice . . . .

There's been a little bit of confussion between the guy who posted the video and the staff at FMPM.
Hopefully it'll be resolved soon and the video can go back up.
